The Mad Knives

  • The Pilot

The Pilot of each ship is trained by the government specifically for this mission and assigned to a specific space ship. Every Pilot is basically the same person, very type-A and does everything by the book. Our Pilot has been a pilot in the military for a long time, he represents the official party line in every situation and gets a little wrapped up in his ego when he eventually gets brainwashed like everybody else. The Pilot wears a dark blue jumpsuit with official insignia. One of the Professionals.

  • The Co-Pilot

The Co-Pilot has the smallest role. She is government trained like The Pilot, but for a much shorter time, she went through a crisis-centric training similar to The Romantics in preparation for specifically this space ship. Determined and hopeful, she specializes in radio transmissions and handles the outgoing messages for the ship. The Co-Pilot wears a lighter blue jumpsuit with similar official insignia, but less of them. One of the Professionals.

  • The Doctor

The Doctor was already a doctor before the crisis, so during training all she had to do was learn some space-centric medical stuff. She is most reluctant to go at first, but in the later half of the story she’s a steady rock for The Farmer when he’s losing it. Emotional and intelligent, she knows what she wants and is capable enough to do things herself, especially when others are in her way. Willing to ignore rules and kinda pissed the whole time that she had to leave Earth to survive. The Doctor has been dating The Farmer since before the crisis. The Doctor wears a red-cross inspired jumpsuit, her color is red. One of the Romantics.

  • The Farmer

The Farmer had never even gardened before and had to learn a lot about farming during the space training. He used to just have random joe-jobs, so he’s essentially a space farmer only, never having done it on Earth. A little shy and sensitive, but tries hard, The Farmer has been working to convince The Doctor to come to space with him from the very start of the crisis warnings. He believes what he is told and follows rules, and is really heartbroken when things go wrong. The Farmer wears a green jumpsuit and has green accessories. One of the Romantics.

  • The Mechanic

The Mechanic is completely un-gendered and non-specific in physical appearance, we never see The Mechanic’s face, they just kind of appear in the ship. They are comatose and on life-support all through the majority of the story, and we don’t see The Mechanic at all until after launch, when they appear strapped into a seat for take-off. Once they wake up at the end, The Mechanic is now the only person on the ship who is not brainwashed, and has to catch up to what is going on to become a part of the group. The Mechanic wears a gray jumpsuit and all the tools and accessories are gray/metallic.
